Access Services at the Weston Playhouse
The Weston Playhouse is committed to making the theatre experience available to all. We are leading the way in Vermont by providing audio-described performances for blind and low-vision patrons, and performances interpreted in American Sign Language (ASL) for deaf patrons.

Both the Playhouse and Other Stages venues are wheelchair accessible. Large-print programs are offered for all productions and assisted-listening devices are available for mainstage productions. There are family-friendly reduced price tickets for youth and special day-of-show discount tickets for Vermont residents. Performance Guides providing background information on the plays are available online; hard copies in the Playhouse lobby may be had for a small donation.

Wheelchair Access
The Weston Playhouse theatre auditorium, lobby, box office and main floor restroom are wheelchair accessible. A ground level entrance to the auditorium is to the left of the main entry stairs. The ‘other stages’ auditorium at the Weston Rod and Gun Club is also wheelchair accessible.

Infrared Listening Devices
For patrons who are hard of hearing, assisted listening devices are available at the Box Office for all mainstage performances.

Large Print Programs
Large print programs are available for all productions. Ask your usher or pick one up at the Box Office.

Sign Language Interpretation (Selected performances only)
ASL-interpreted performances provide access to live theatre for members of the Deaf community.

American Sign Language (ASL) is a complete, complex language that employs signs made with the hands and other movements, including facial expressions and postures of the body. It is the first language of many deaf North Americans, and is said to be the fourth most commonly used language in the United States. Fluency in ASL happens only after a long period of study and practice and theatre interpretation is — in itself — an art.

To ensure good visibility of the interpreters, please indicate that you wish to be seated in the ASL section.

Audio Description (Selected performances only)
Audio-description is a live narration of the visual elements of a production. The narration is scripted and rehearsed to be timed for pauses in the dialogue or musical interludes. Blind and low-vision patrons listen via a small headset receiver.

When purchasing tickets, blind/low vision patrons should tell the Box Office representative they wish to reserve a headset. Plan to arrive by 2:30PM to receive headsets, have a chance to touch and handle selected props and costumes, and listen to the pre-show description of sets, major characters and other production elements. Aisles between rows are quite roomy and guide dogs are welcome.
