Weston Playhouse Awarded McCarty Grant from the Stratton Foundation
The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company has received a McCarty grant from the Stratton Mountain & Valley benefit Foundation in support of its 2008 Early Stages Program. The $1,000 grant will help fund this dynamic in-school residency program for elementary aged children.
"We are pleased and honored to receive this latest grant from the Stratton Foundation" commented WPTC Education Director Lauryn Axelrod. "The Early Stages is our first program to target young children and it has proven to be an important addition to our other Education and Outreach offerings. The kids that we have been working with are so excited to be a part of this.”
The WPTC has received funding from Stratton Foundation most every year since 1999. This latest grant will support the Flood Brook Elementary in-school residency and the Family Day Event to be held on May 18 at the Weston Playhouse. Offering a fun-filled afternoon, this event is open to the public and will feature school performances, a petting zoo and a special video appearance by the author & illustrator of CLICK, CLACK, MOO: COWS THAT TYPE. The WPTC Early Stages program began with a class of 3rd graders from Cavendish Elementary in 2007 and has grown to include three classes from two schools in 2008.
