BROADWAY PERFORMERS CELEBRATE
THE CAREER OF OBIE-WINNING COMPOSER POLLY PEN

Broadway actors Terri Klausner, Theresa McCarthy, Bobby Steggert and Henry Stram join award-winning author/composer Polly Pen on the stage of Vermont’s Weston Playhouse in “Polly’s Night Out,” a special event described by Pen as “a gathering of songs and opinions that are silly, sinister and wildly out of context” on Monday, July 14 at 8pm.

Dubbed “one of the most original voices in musical theatre,” Polly Pen is a 1996 Obie Award winner for the score of Bed and Sofa. Her other works include Goblin Market (Circle in the Square), The Dumb Cake (NPR), Christina Alberta’s Father (Vineyard Theatre), Night Governess (McCarter Theatre) and Embarrassments (Wilma Theatre). Her many honors include the Richard Rodgers Award and The Gilman & Gonzalez-Falla Award. Much loved in the theatre world, Pen serves on the board of Dramatists Play Service and teaches at NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.

Pen, who began her career as an actress (the original Chicago company of Grease, Broadway’s The Utter Glory of Morrissey Hall), will be joined in the Weston performance by her longtime music director, Alan Johnson. The credits of her talented ensemble include: Broadway’s Evita and Off Broadway’s Goblin Market (Klausner); Broadway’s Titanic and Off Broadway’s Floyd Collins (McCarthy); Broadway’s 110 in the Shade and PBS’s Camelot (Steggert); and Broadway’s The Crucible and Inherit the Wind (Stram).

Polly’s Night Out plays for one night only. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door; all proceeds support the work of the non-profit Weston Playhouse Theatre Company. For more information and online ticketing, visit www.westonplayhouse.org.
