A
ROMANTIC "NIGHT IN THE PIAZZA" IN WESTON
WESTON, VT - (Feb. 14, 2008) --- Join
the Weston Playhouse Theatre Company at Weston’s
Village Green Gallery for “A Night in The Piazza,”
Friday, February 29 at 7pm. Featuring delicious Italian
hors d’oeuvres and wine served café -style,
the evening’s highlight is a free screening of
the rare 1962 film, THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA,
part of the WPTC’s Stage Door Series.
Based on the award-winning Elizabeth Spencer novella, and starring Yvette Mimieux, Olivia de Havilland, and a young George Hamilton, the film tells the story of a Southern mother and her beautiful, but naive daughter on vacation in Florence. The magic of Italy works as the daughter falls in love with a young Italian man and her mother must make a choice in this romantic tale about the power of love to change lives.
The novella and the film were the inspiration for Adam
Guettel’s Tony Award-winning musical, THE
LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, which has been hailed
for its lushly romantic score. THE LIGHT
IN THE PIAZZA will appear on the Weston
Playhouse MainStage this summer.
Co Sponsored by the Weston Film Club and the Village Green Gallery, “A Night in the Piazza” is free, though a $10 donation is suggested. Seating is limited. Please call (802) 824-3669 to reserve.
