COMMUNITY PLAYREADING AT MISTY VALLEY BOOKS
WESTON, VT - (Feb. 18, 2008) --- Bring
your inner thespian to Chester’s Misty Valley
Books on Sunday March 9, at 3pm, for a free community
play reading and brief discussion of Nilaja Sun’s
NO CHILD…, a comic look at inner city
school education. This audience participation reading
is part of the Weston Playhouse Theatre Co.’s
Stage Door Series, and is co-sponsored by Misty Valley
Books and the Whiting Library. Everyone is welcome,
readers and listeners alike. The reading lasts 90 minutes
and WPTC Education Director Lauryn Axelrod will briefly
introduce the play and lead a discussion afterwards.
NO CHILD… is an Obie Award-winning one-woman
show featuring16 characters, including teaching artist,
Nilaja Sun, who arrives at Malcolm X. High School in
the Bronx to direct a particularly unruly class in a
play. Structured as a play within a play within a play,
NO CHILD… hilariously and heartwarmingly
illustrates both the failures of the current educational
system and the successes of one inspired teacher. NO
CHILD… will appear on the Weston Playhouse
OtherStage from July 24-August 9, 2008.
